Digital Journalism Students Visit Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
As part of the “Mobile Journalism” course at the College of Communication and Media, a group of digital journalism students from Al Ain University conducted an educational visit to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. The visit aimed to explore the facilities of this unique Islamic and architectural landmark and apply practical skills in producing mobile-based news stories.
The students were welcomed by a mosque guide, who led them on an informative tour covering the prayer halls, domes, decorative motifs, inscriptions, and artistic lighting that distinguish the mosque, providing detailed explanations and answers regarding the religious, architectural, and cultural aspects of the site.
During the visit, the students captured and produced short news reports highlighting the aesthetic features of the mosque using mobile journalism techniques, in a hands-on experience designed to enhance their skills in photography, visual storytelling, and digital news production.
At the conclusion of the visit, the group recited Surah Al-Fatiha in memory of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in recognition of his enduring cultural and humanitarian legacy.
This visit aligns with the College of Communication and Media’s vision to promote applied learning and connect academic knowledge with professional field practice.
